Arthroscopic Repair and Augumentation in Acute Acuterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

Abstract
The acute anterior cuciate ligament injury is most common major knee injuries of athletics and usually associated with other ligament injury. The treatment of acute ACL injury is controversial but arthroscopic ACL repair has advantages such as
fedo
complication, minimal trauma, preservation of the synovial sheath and periligamentous blood supply. The open repair of acute rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament have been used widely but the arthroscopic repair and augumentation is a
relatively
new method.
The purpose of this paper is to describe the surgical technique of arthroscopic augumented repair for acute ACL injury and preliminary result of its operation.
Aurhors have performed arthroscopic repair and augumentation with semitendinosus tendon in 8 acute ACL injuries from 1991 to June 1992 and confirmed that the result was very satisfactory with average 8 months follow up.
